Job Description

Under direction of the VP Finance & Administration, performs supervisory and professional accounting work relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, warranty and general aspects of accounting including preparation of journal entries and monthly and quarterly income statement and balance sheet account reconciliations, auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, and reconciling general ledger accounts; assists in preparing the company's annual budgets and mid-year forecasts; prepares year-end audit reports and schedules; trains and provides technical advice to lower-level accounting personnel, and performs related work as required. Additional responsibilities include participating in special projects that incorporate a wide range of accounting exposure.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervises accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and warranty personnel
  • Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts
  • Analyzes and reconciles expenditure and revenue accounts.
  • Makes wire transfers and journal funding transfers and reconciles monthly bank statements.
  • Calculates and prepares reimbursement billings and tracks receivables; reconciles monthly accounts receivable.
  • Prepares audit schedules for external auditors.
  • Prepares and files quarterly and annual tax returns for City and Governmental agencies.
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and mid-year forecasts.
  • Assists with the fiscal year-end and fixed asset accounting.
  • Assists departmental personnel with budget questions, proper expenditure coding,
  • document processing and other accounting related activities.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related field
  • Supervisory skills
  • E-mail, Internet skills, proficient in Outlook, MS Office, Excel and Word
  • Ability to type 50+ WPM and ten-key by sight
  • Previous accounting experience required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, fax machine, copier, etc.
  • Must be customer service oriented and willing to adapt to various environments
